"Freeway Ricky Ross. The Real One."
Don't get me wrong. I love both rappers Philly Freeway and Rick "The Bawse" Ross. One, is a super dope lyricist that used a moniker that was a nickname, while not adhering to the nickname he borrowed. The other, well, you know the story. Former nice guy/corrections officer takes the actual NAME of a notorious narcotic distributor and hits the culture by storm with raps about moving units and kilos, while maintaining active distribution drug connects. Now I'm not going to make this about knocking lying rappers. It'd be like calling a toddler for double dribbling; too easy. And why lie? I do like "Officer Ricky" and that whole MMG imprint. They are incredibly dope. Super beats. Meek Mill, Ross and Wale are talented as hell.
But the problem is, people believe these raps. And they build up rappers to that standard, or even more damaging, they attempt to reach that height in real life.
Hell, if you believe that you can be the REAL Rick Ross....not going to happen, fam. Many believe that because the amount of areas he supplied, he had to have governmental or police cooperation to manage having such a large distribution ring. With inflation, the REAL Rick Ross made $1.6 Billion dollars. That's truly a pipe dream nowadays.
Yet there are those who continue to try and achieve that level. Just stop it. Be you. You're not about all that in your raps. If you believe that your favorite rapper is really doing it, come on now. Stop it. They aren't anymore about that life than your local librarian, they just get paid for telling stories. Hopefully, you go see your local librarian and find out what happen to those Noriega's, the Ricky Ross's, the American Gangsters and so on.
But the tough talk and drug speech. Stop it. That's not you. Leave you with some Saigon for your weekend. And right now, my DETROIT LIONS are preparing to SMASH the Saints!! Let's go boys!! This joint will get you charged!! Peace!!
Peace, ya'll!
